George Providence II is the first son of six to George Sr., a native of British Guyana and Barbara, a native of New Haven, Connecticut, where he and his five brothers were also born.
A one-time student at both the University of Pennsylvania and North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, George has served in the ministry both vocationally and bi-vocationally for over thirty years and is an ordained minister.
During that time, he has served in both local and national capacities. He served as executive director of the Evanston Ministerial Alliance; as president of the Chicago Area Mennonite Ministerial Alliance; as president of the Evanston Neighborhood Conference (a grassroots community organizing group); as co-chair of the Committee Against School and Community Violence (formed after an accidental school shooting Evanston Township High School); as founder and executive director of the Center for Evangelism and Outreach (Reba Place Church, Evanston); as a national board member of the African American Mennonite Association.
George is the founder, along with his wife Lynn, of NARROWGate Ministries, an organization whose mission is to help support the local Christian community in the mentoring and transformation of Christians in their journey towards Jesus Christ. NARROWGate will formally begin operations in January of 2022. He is also the author of the book Remembering the Times: The Reanimation of God’s People and the Living and the Sharing of the Good News, scheduled for release in September of 2022.
He currently lives in Ft. Irwin, California with his wife and son.
